What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Ministry Assistant position at First Baptist Church York?
Principal Function: Manage the church financial software to accurately maintain records and produce required reports. Perform general office work and clerical duties; greeting and providing information to all people entering the church office and directing them to the proper destination. Provide assistance to the pastor as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general office work, maintain supplies and various files, keep records and compile these into periodic or occasional reports
- Review, open and distribute mail; prepare routine answers without direction for approval and signature, answer routine letters in absence of pastor
- Receive phone calls and emails, keep calendar of appointments and events. Prepare prayer list, bulletins and newsletter
- Assist pastor with sermon notes, appointments, scheduling, etc.
- Maintain office files and records
- Post receipts and disbursements of all accounts according to the financial system
- Post the weekly offerings to individual accounts
- Reconcile the bank statement monthly
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for finance committee, deacons, and church business meetings
- Ensure all financial data entered appropriately into software; balance monthly
- Receive and answer questions about financial matters
- Act as required during pastor’s absence in making decisions or taking any necessary action not requiring supervisory approval
- Accept and perform other duties as requested
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
