What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Preschool Teacher position at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)?
We are looking to hire a teaching assistant for our Little Blessings Preschool. Candidiates will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide education and instruction to the students.
Job Description
Classroom duties
1. Arrive by 8:00 a.m. and assist in preparation for the day. (make copies, check playroom, preschool room, playground and etc.)
2. Assist teacher with greeting students and supervise students putting away their backpacks. Also supervise children in playroom during drop off period.
3. Responsible for teaching the curriculum assigned and approved by the teacher.
4. Follow the schedule of the day assisting the teacher in tasks and teaching the subjects assigned.
5. May have to assist children in the bathroom if needed and clean up any accidents that may happen.
6. Help children get ready to leave for the day. Must stay until all children have been picked up. Also responsible for making sure each child is picked up by an approved adult.
7. Clean preschool room at the end of each school day. ( Sanitize chairs and tables, sweep floor, clean bathroom and remove garbage.) Return any items used back to original location. Straighten playroom also.
8. Help keep preschool room and supply closet organized in conjunction with the teacher.
9. Extra hours to be worked include prep hours before the school year begins (8 hours), two open house nights (2 hours), Christmas program (3 hours) and graduation program (3 hours). Extra events may be scheduled.
10.Meet with preschool committee at designated times. Any problems should be reported to the preschool committee in a timely manner.
11.Purchases not covered by petty cash need to be approved by the director and/ or preschool committee.
12.Other duties may be added as conditions require.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $16.00 per hour
