What are the responsibilities and job description for the 4-Year-Olds Classroom Supervisor position at First Church of Christ Preschool?
First Church Preschool is an outreach Christian preschool for children ages 3-5, where children are loved, inspired and connected.
OUR PURPOSE is to provide a safe environment that supports and encourages both social and educational learning experiences to prepare children for their first year of elementary school.
WE PROVIDE an atmosphere of quality learning by following the “Creative Curriculum”.
This is a play-based curriculum that ensures children meet State-required learning standards through physical, creative and cognitive activities. Our lessons are enhanced with Bible stories, Scripture memory, and the modeling of Christian values.
We are looking for a Head Teacher for 4-year-olds.
Qualifications needed to teach effectively include knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. Candidates must be warm, nurturing, patient, flexible and have a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative curriculum.
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
- Organize student files.
- Supervise children to ensure they are always safe.
- Track children’s progress and report to parents.
- Communicate with parents regularly.
- Collaborate with other educators.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to teach in a Christian setting to nurture Children's spiritual growth.
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, age-appropriate milestones, and willingness to be an integral part of a child’s healthy growth and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, creative, energetic, and committed to the families, children and center philosophies and values.
- Possess or willing to obtain required trainings, including but not limited to First Aid Certification, CPR & medication administration.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- Must be able to bend, sit on the floors, and assume low level positions to engage in physical and visual contact with children.
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
