What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director/Head Teacher position at First Church Preschool Portland CT?
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Preschool Director/Head Teacher to lead our program. You will collaborate with our assistant teachers to prepare children for school both academically and socially by using age-appropriate lesson plans, selecting effective developmental materials for the classroom, and utilizing positive behavior reinforcement. We keep our teacher to student ratio small to enable you to provide individualized care for every child in our program. Our program runs ten months for children aged three to five.
Duties
Preschool Lead Teacher Duties and Responsibilities(including but not limited to):
● Implement curriculum
● Support creativity and learning
● Provide supervision during activities
● Select age-appropriate developmental materials for the classroom
● Keep classroom neat and organized
● Be available for parent conferences as needed or requested. There will be at least one Parent/Teacher conference per pupil per school year
● Work with the First Church Nursery School Board to see that all state license requirements are met and maintained yearly
● Uphold traditions set in place by the First Church Nursery School for the last 30 years
Requirements
Preschool Lead Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
● High school diploma or GED certificate
● Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood development or education per State of CT OEC requirements
● At least three years of teaching or child care experience
● First aid and CPR certification
● Shall have within one (1) year of being hired or designated at least three (3) credits in the administration of early childhood education programs or
educational administration from an institution of higher education accredited by the Board of Governors of Higher Education.

Benefits
Salary to start is $31,312(negotiable based on experience) payable in 20 payments biweekly from September 15- June 30. Preparation for the school year is required two weeks prior to the first day of school.
