Summary
The Universal Banker is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience by handling the customers financial needs and processing transactions as needed. Retain and deepen existing customer relationships through a needs-based service approach. Establish new banking relationships. Process transactions accurately, assist with operational activities and responsibilities, and maintain flexibility between performing sales and service-related transactions. Assist and support clients with bank technology including online and mobile banking needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides an exceptional customer service experience to new and existing customers.
- Establish new banking relationships within and out of the bank.
- Accurately and efficiently processes and records routine transactions for bank customers.
- Promotes and advises on the bank’s products and services and refers the appropriate products and services matching the customer’s needs.
- Provides a complete range of customer services including opening new accounts, explaining available financial institution products and services, and gathers customer information to process new and existing accounts.
- Performs specialized tasks such as auditing accounts, handling customer complaints, including fraud complaints.
- Answers inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products.
- Completes documentation for special accounts and services such as IRA’s, HSA’s, Sweeps, and Bonds, etc.
- Represents the financial institution in community affairs and civic organizations.
- Assists customers with online and mobile banking needs.
- Assist customers over the phone.
- Refers loans, outside lines of business and other bank services to the appropriate department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
· 1-2 years of teller or relevant experience, including clerical, administrative, cash handling.
· Proven exceptional customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with both customers and other employees
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to maintain customer and bank confidentiality
· Knowledge of Jack Henry Core Director and Deposit Pro preferred but not required.
· The ability to effectively manage time pressures and stress that can change rapidly depending on staffing levels as well as customer activity.
· Strong organizational skills, to include re-prioritizing day-to-day tasks to accommodate the needs of both customers and co-workers.
· Maintains a high level of bank compliance and regulatory knowledge.
· Must have excellent attention to detail along with critical thinking skills.
· Must possess the ability to work well with employees at all levels of the organization and work well independently and as part of a team.
· Demonstrated work experience with confidential and sensitive information.
· Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
· Positive attitude, initiative, willingness and ability to contribute to projects.
· Strong PC knowledge to include Microsoft Word & Excel.
