Senior Private Banker

First Merchants Bank is seeing a Senior Private Banker to join our team! This position will identify, expand and manage client relationships with verified higher net worth and personal cash flow as well as closely held professional services firms. Support commercial lenders and retail banking centers to provide services to existing and prospective clients, as well as developing and establishing new private banking relationships through executive management, centers of influence, and community involvement.

As part of this role, you will: 

1. Partner with regional lines of business including commercial and retail.
2. Implement an aggressive sales and marketing strategy to develop new and existing relationships, involves:
   1. Identify and develop prospects into significant new relationships with yearly goals for income production.
   2. Aggressive sales call plan which aligns with established goals.
   3. Cross sell opportunities, specific emphasis on assets under management.
   4. Ensure bank reporting tools are utilized for reporting progress.
3. Continually monitor current loans and customer’s credit profile to ensure complete conformity with terms, involves:
   1. Ensure current credit and financial information is obtained as needed and/or that collateral is adequate.
   2. Review financials with customers and provide expert advice as necessary.
   3. Direct accountability for loss prevention; determine necessary action to be taken on all loans, includes resolving marginal and delinquent loans.
   4. Remain cognizant of developing trends.
4. Extend consumer and commercial credit within assigned limits to private banking customers, involves:
   1. Interview applicants and obtain information concerning their borrowing needs, abilities and earnings, and assess credit risk.
   2. Obtain and analyze pertinent financial data or appraise the adequacy of collateral pledged.
5. Participate in employee selection process and oversight of performance of assigned private banking staff as required.

To be successful in this position, we require: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of private banking or related commercial banking experience.

The following would be a plus:

• Master’s degree in business administration (MBA)
• Credit analyst experience
• Consumer lending experience
• Small business lending experience
