What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at First Mid?
The Paralegal will assist with legal research, document preparation, regulatory compliance, and contract management to support the bank’s legal and business operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct legal research and provide summaries on banking regulations, financial laws, and compliance requirements.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence.
- Maintain and organize legal files, records, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support the legal team in corporate governance matters, including preparing board resolutions and meeting minutes.
- Assist with litigation management by gathering documents, coordinating with external counsel, and tracking case developments.
- Conduct due diligence reviews for transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assist with ensuring the bank’s policies align with applicable laws.
- Provide administrative support to the legal department, including coordinating meetings and maintaining calendars.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Paralegal certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience as a paralegal.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations, preferably those that impact the financial services industry.
- Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to generate innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external contacts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
