TELLER EXPERIENCE & CASH HANDLING REQUIRED
POSITION SUMMARY
Assumes responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the Teller area. Operates a teller window to provide customers with various services such as treasurer's checks, receiving payments and deposits, and other banking transactions. Answers questions from customers regarding transactions on their accounts, types of accounts the bank offers, and the bank's policies and procedures regarding regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Process transactions on Teller Processing System including deposits, check cashing, loan payments, club payments, CD deposits and safe deposit box payments.
· Process vault transactions and maintain vault log. Supply all tellers with cash and verify cash from tellers.
· Maintain extensive knowledge of Bank products and services and recommend appropriate products to customers. Also use customer CIF profiles and materials provided to cross sell all applicable products and services and make referrals to new account and lending areas. Participate in branch specific initiatives to promote bank growth, blitzes, mailings, etc.
· Balance cash drawer, vault and branch cash daily adhering to set limits and controls.
· Process weekly or bi-weekly shipments to Federal Reserve Bank, order coin and currency and verify incoming shipments. Bi-weekly ship coin to customers via Shields Armored car service depending on branch location.
· Prepares schedules for tellers, allocates work and assists in training personnel.
· Answer incoming phone calls – including interest rate inquiries, account features and benefits, and resolve problems with accounts.
· Assist in daily ATM settlement with Manager and process deposits. Log and process captured card and replenish cash.
· Sell treasurer’s check and money orders and process applications and maintenance forms for Master Money cards.
· Audit teller drawers monthly.
· Open new night depository agreements for business customers and process deposits daily under dual control.
· Provides input regarding teller performance with the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager at annual performance review time.
· Complete CTRs as required and monitor/process cash items.
· Assist customers with opening Christmas Clubs, address changes, stop payment orders, and closing accounts.
· Resolve problems and discrepancies concerning customers’ accounts and/or other issues with their accounts.
· Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems, and in resolving complaints from customers.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education : High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience : One year related experience
Computer Skills: Must be able to adapt to the teller computer system (Jack Henry) used by The First Northern Bank and Trust Co.. Experience with Windows, Excel and Microsoft Word is helpful.
Other Requirements: Experience working as a regular teller is needed prior to becoming a Head Teller. Knowledge in banking policies and procedures is required. Ability to supervise others.
