Description


The Inside Sales Rep is responsible to perform a variety of tasks as assigned to meet customer needs, including responsibility to serve the customer in person at the rental counter and on the telephone, providing information on equipment or product availability, pricing, terms and services. Also handles reservations, contracts, questions, sales transactions and order adjustments. May assist in display of equipment, and training customers on the safe operation of the equipment. May assist both the customers and delivery personnel with loading and unloading of equipment.


This position requires constant interaction with the public and co-workers. Moderate to frequent lifting and a significant degree of walking, bending, pushing and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions is required. Must stand for long periods of time. Most work will be indoors with general warehouse conditions, in which some work areas may not be heated or air conditioned. Some work is completed outside, with varying weather conditions. May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene and cleaning solvents.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers at counter. Serves the customer in person and on the telephone, providing information on equipment or product availability, pricing, terms and services.
  • Rents equipment. Computes charges based on rental or service rate. Prepares sales agreement. Receives payment. Observes payment processing procedures.
  • Answers telephone and receives orders by telephone. Recommends products and services to meet customer need.
  • Reserves items and maintains rental reservation file. Maintains daily contract file.
  • Updates and calls customers on overdue list. Keeps superior informed on overdue status.
  • Check rental contracts and equipment to be sure the right equipment goes out.
  • May prep equipment, if necessary, prior to loading. Check fluid levels and test operation of equipment before loading.
  • Cleans and maintains showroom and equipment. May set up equipment in display areas. May move or remove equipment from display area.
  • Instruct customers in the proper use of equipment and demonstrate operation when necessary.
  • May load and unload equipment. Secure loaded equipment per company procedure. May fill propane cylinders as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • May serve as delivery assistant to deliver and pick up equipment and supplies as needed. May perform task of delivery driver.
  • Check equipment for damage upon return, report damage and document receipt.
  • Assist in parts and inventory stocking. Inform supervisor of low inventory levels.
  • Report safety violations to supervisor.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in store.
  • Attend department, store and safety meetings.
  • Perform shipping and receiving functions, handling light to heavy items.
  • Operates computer terminal, telephone, fax calculator, ect.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs on a moderate to frequent basis.
  • Must possess customer relation skills.
  • Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems related to counts, inventory, costs etc.
  • Must speak English clearly and write legibly. Must be able to understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form.
  • Must pass company drug screen.
  • Must have sufficient range of motion and dexterity to perform tasks with or without accommodation.
