OFFICE and COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Position Description:
Under general supervision, the Office and Communications Coordinator will provide support to the pastor and the ministry leaders in assisting with the operation of the church. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week). This position reports directly to the Head of Staff.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain weekly office hours: 9am - 2pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: preferred but negotiable.
· Answer phones and coordinate volunteer receptionists
· Provide clerical and secretarial support to pastor and staff
· Work with pastor to update and maintain website
· Work with pastor to prepare and mail a monthly newsletter
· Update and maintain church databases and directories and calendar on a regular basis
· Update church website on a regular basis
· Maintain church file systems and databases. Work on migrating hard copy documents to a cloud based service
· Prepare worship bulletin on a weekly basis. Contact ministry leaders for bulletin information. Print and fold bulletins
· Collect a list of prayer requests and share with the pastor. Relay any hospitalization and visitation request to pastor.
· Support Clerk in preparation of monthly Session Meetings and annual audit
· Provide limited clerical support to ministries and ministry leaders in the church.
· Handle booking requests for weddings, funerals, and memorials and building use. Coordinate with necessary volunteers for each set-up and needs accordingly.
· Maintain supplies necessary for operation and administration of the church and oversee maintenance of office equipment
Requirements:
· Proficiency with computers and technology: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Gmail, Youtube, website management, etc
· Preferred experience with G Suite, shared drives, and Squarespace
· Ability to answer incoming phone calls and take messages in a professional manner
· High school graduation and two years of full-time, increasingly responsible office experience OR equivalent experience/education
· Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and compassionately
Preferred:
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
· Experience attending or working in a church environment
Benefits:
$17 an hour
Flexible work hours (to be negotiated with Head of Staff)
