Position Title: Interim Director of Caring
Supported by: Senior Pastor, Board of Deacons
Summary
This position serves the church by performing and coordinating the care that First Presbyterian Church (FPC) provides for its members and affiliates. It is expected that this position will be interim for 18 to 24 months while our future staff configuration is discerned. The person hired for this role would be eligible to apply for a future permanent position.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead (through participation and coordination of others) visitation with church members. This includes in the office, home, care centers, hospitals, etc., as this is a major component of the job.
Correspond with members in times of significant life events, including birth, baptism, marriage, trauma, illness or loss, and anniversaries of these events.
Create Care Reports and newsletter articles to communicate the needs of members to the staff, Deacons, congregation, etc., as appropriate.
Communicate with prayer teams.
Coordinate and oversee Deacon teams that, in turn, lead (through participation and coordination of others) care for the congregation.
Oversee grief ministries which include Grief Groups, connection and follow-up with families grieving a loved one - including All Saints, Longest Night, anniversaries of death, etc.
Coordinate and collaborate on additional ministries of care and outreach to vulnerable populations such as meals, van rides, emergency assistance, cards/calls, etc.
Coordinate Mental Health Care team and its ministries.
Provide referrals for outside assistance including senior care, mental health resources, financial assistance, etc.
Occasionally assist with worship services in support of the Senior Pastor and the Board of Deacons.

Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will be able to organize and prioritize his/her ministry to accomplish the responsibilities of the position. He or she will demonstrate a warm and inviting personality and have strong interpersonal skills as well as the technology skills to utilize electronic systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required and being an active member of the FPC community is desired.
Education and Experience
This position requires college coursework or equivalent professional experience. An associate's or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience on a church staff is desired.
Compensation
This position is half-time at 20 hrs/wk and paid hourly at approximately $22 per hour.
