Office Manager Position Open
Where: First Presbyterian Church of Alton
Downtown Alton at the corner of Fourth and Alby streets
Schedule: Monday through Friday
9:00am to 1:00pm
Reports to: Pastor

First Presbyterian Church of Alton has 193 years of dedication to the Alton community. We are conveniently located in historic downtown Alton amid the shops and restaurants. This congregation is faithful to the Word and is deeply committed to serving the community through outreach and various community activities.
General Description
The successful candidate for this position should have two or more years of office experience that encompasses meeting/greeting the public; answering phones, keeping accurate records; and solid computer experience to perform the job.
Must be able to work with little to no supervision at times and be capable of exercising sound judgement. Must demonstrate the ability to work with staff members each week to complete Sunday's worship bulletin and be ready to support special church programs and events.
Skills and qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with ability to multitask. Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing deadlines, goals and tasks.
- Comfortable with website and other social media design and updating.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed timely and with few errors.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and determination.
Education and Training
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. Some college or office skills certification is preferable. Prior experience in a religious environment is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook/Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher – minimum two (2) years-experience.
Salary/Benefits
This is an hourly position with compensation commensurate with experience. Paid bank Holidays and accumulated personal leave. There are no other benefits provided for this position.
