What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Director/Organist/Pianist position at First Presbyterian Church of Chester?
- Provide accompaniment for choirs and soloists at weekly worship services. Perform at Sunday morning service and additional services as the need arises.
- Coordinate music with the Pastor for special services and seasonal liturgies (weddings, memorial services, community programs).
- Is comfortable navigating diverse music styles.
- Schedule soloists or special music/musicians.
- Encourage and support individuals with the gift of music and utilize them in a way that contributes to the worship and ministry of the church.
- Regularly meet with the Pastor to plan music and worship experiences.
- Schedule regular maintenance/tuning of church owned instruments.
- Manage music for weddings and funerals/memorial services, which are an integral part of church life. Additional compensation for any of these events is the responsibility of the individuals involved, and not the church. Check current policies for rates.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership abilities in a musical setting
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with choir members and musicians
- Proficiency in piano and organ performance
