Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Facilities Tech to join our team. Responsibilities include maintaining clean buildings and grounds, setting up and tearing down meeting rooms (tables, chairs, equipment, etc.), performing routine repairs, and assisting with security, safety, and health matters. Flexibility in daily tasks and work hours is required, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, including some overtime. The ideal candidate will have good verbal communication skills, be able to lift and move heavy items, and work well with staff, volunteers, and the public. Some custodial or building maintenance experience is preferred.
This position offers medical, dental, vision, short term and long term disability, 403(b)9 retirement matching, two weeks of vacation, four days of PTO, and one month of sick time. Candidates must be 18 years or older and able to report for shifts and time off as needed. Days and shifts may vary based on church needs.
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- Maintain floors. Vacuum and steam clean carpets; sweep, mop, strip and wax floors according to schedule.
- Dust, clean and maintain furniture, equipment, walls and windows as needed.
- Maintain clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
- Request cleaning and maintenance supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Operate heating and cooling equipment according to schedule.
- Open and secure buildings as scheduled.
- Water and cultivate planters, maintain clean church entrances, sidewalks, and parking areas.
- Assist with snow removal as needed.
- Move furniture, set up tables and chairs for luncheons, dinners, banquets, and other similar meetings, and set up assembly and classroom areas for regular activities.
- Prepare facilities for special use as directed by supervisor.
- Report needed electrical, plumbing, equipment, and all other repairs to supervisor and call service personnel as directed. Make minor repairs as directed by supervisor.
- Paint walls, furniture, and equipment as directed.
- Maintain church supplied uniform in as neat and clean a condition as possible to project good image while on duty.
- Always provide prompt, courteous, and efficient attention to requests for assistance from church members, visitors, staff members and co-workers. This requires good verbal communications skills.
- Attend appropriate staff meetings, staff chapel, and other assigned meetings or events.
- Other duties as requested by the Business Administrator or Facilities Director as applicable to the position or to advance the ministry of First Pres.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, walking on uneven surfaces, and reaching (over shoulder and forward).
- Occasional lifting/lowering (30-80 lbs.), climbing stairs/ladders, crawling or kneeling, and working with chemicals/solvents.
- Frequent moving of heavy items (lifting/lowering under 30 lbs., pushing/pulling, carrying).
- Operating machinery such as fax, printer, copier, 10-key, computer/mouse, and telephone/radio.
