Position: Congregational Care
Accountable to: Pastor/Head of Staff
Classification: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Responsibilities:
A. Support ongoing congregational ministry (70%)
Assist the ordained staff with spiritual care. This is primarily a pastoral role as opposed to a
liturgical role, although presiding over the Lord’s Supper may occur if ordained. Specific
responsibilities include:
- Visitation of shut-ins, hospital patients, nursing homes and assisted living residents, and
others by means of phone calls, notes, and personal visits
- Participate in other support activities as guided by the Pastor
- Assist in worship activities as guided by the Pastor
- Utilize a shared notation system regarding pastoral interactions and follow up
- Report to the Pastor, at least monthly, all activities, visits, and members served
- Comply with and uphold all bylaws, procedures, and policies of the Church (including
budgetary compliance procedures and policies)
B. Administration of Church School (30%)
Develop, organize, schedule and maintain educational resources and materials for Children and
Youth Programing. Specific responsibilities include:
- Oversee budget, purchase necessary supplies and curriculum materials
- Recruit and train church school volunteers
- Manage volunteer application process via Google Forms
- Conduct background checks for all prospective volunteers
- Host child protection training in-person or via Zoom for all new volunteers and those
needing to renew their training
- Host volunteer orientation once a year
- Coordinate volunteer schedules for Sunday School and Youth Programming
- Order quarterly children’s bulletins for Sunday morning
- Coordinate Vacation Bible School in the summer
- Coordinate Noisy Coin Collection once a month.
- Publicize events in First Press Weekly email and Inspire Newsletter
- Oversee Halloween Trunk or Treat and the Christmas play
- Send birthday cards to children of registered families
Compensation: Per Personnel Manual and Commensurate with Experience. The successful
candidate must pass all Church initiated background checks prior to employment.
Evaluation: Annual performance review with Pastor/Head of Staff in consultation with the
Personnel Team. This relationship may be renewed annually, with the concurrence of all
parties. The relationship may be terminated at any time by action of the Personnel Team.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
