First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville
Jacksonville, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 3/3/2025

First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville is in a very exciting season of growth and revitalization. We are a downtown church with a big heart for the people of Jacksonville!

We are a church for families from all nations, doing all things out of our love for Jesus, as we bring gospel transformation to Jacksonville and the world.

Executive Summary

The new worship leader at First Pres. will, first and foremost, have a heart that honors, treasures, and values Jesus Christ above all else. Then, as the family of God at First Pres. worships each Sunday, the worship leader will help cultivate gatherings that are joyful, intentional, and glorifying to God.

Sunday morning worship gatherings should be dynamic and engaging, rooted in leading the congregation into God's presence through a mix of upbeat joyful songs and those that are more prayerful and worshipful.

We currently have a blended service with a few traditional hymns and a few contemporary songs led by a worship team. We soon will be moving to have a traditional service and a contemporary one.

We are seeking an individual who’s called and gifted by God in the following areas:

Specific Responsibilities

1) Working closely with pastoral staff to plan and organize our weekly
Sunday worship service. a) Choosing songs that both engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word.

2) Modeling and leading heartfelt worship in an invitational style – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.

3) Recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians and audio/visual technicians in the church to serve the congregation as a team with both skill and humility.

4) Leading weekly rehearsals that serve a dual purpose: a) Preparation for Sunday b) Cultivation of Christ-centered community.

6) Serving as a member of the ministry team at First Pres. demonstrating a commitment to this congregation and its mission.

7) This individual is expected to:

a) Be gifted in leading congregational worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar and/or piano) b) Possess leadership and organizational skills, and c) Be a team player. d) Displays an attitude of humility and a willingness to learn
