First Presbyterian Church of Nashville is seeking an experienced and dedicated Ministry Assistant to provide part-time support to our Ministry with Children & Their Families. Under the general supervision of the Director, the Ministry Assistant will work in partnership with the Children’s Ministry Program Assistant to ensure that events and programs that support the spiritual growth of families and Children (aged newborn through sixth grade) run smoothly and effectively.

This hourly, part-time role will work up to 25 hours per week Monday through Thursday during regular Church office hours on-site and will have evening and weekend work (including Sundays) as required on an occasional basis. The compensation range is $20.00 to $24.00 per hour based on experience. Eligible benefits include dental and vision eye ware coverage and a 403(b) retirement plan.

You will
- foster a hospitable office environment that supports the ministry’s team members by developing and establishing efficient work systems, processes and procedures.
- perform upkeep of Ministry Platform (MP) and eSPACE (church software systems) for the Children’s Ministry by creating and updating attendance, events, groups, and systems.
- maintain family records and initiate/implement annual updates, including group promotions, each summer in preparation for the upcoming school year.
- manage registrations, enrollments, and event responses for all ministry programs and events via MP.
- ensure check-in procedures and equipment function correctly for all events to enable safe monitoring of children in the care of the ministry and enhance data quality of family engagement with the ministry.
- ensure all volunteers have a valid criminal background check throughout their time in service and are in compliance with the Church’s policy on Child Protection and Prevention of Abuse.
- order and restock supplies for the ministry, keeping expenditures within budgetary guidelines; create and sustain an orderly system that is efficient to inventory and easy to use.
- assist in recruiting, training and equipping a consistent and friendly team of student, parent, and adult volunteers who can easily problem-solve, will make a hospitality statement within the Children’s Ministry and will surround and empower Children’s Ministry staff.
- assist in the planning and execution of major events in both Children’s Ministry and the larger church, including tracking event progress and scheduling resources via eSPACE.
- perform other administrative duties, as assigned.
