First Presbyterian Church of Nashville is seeking an experienced and dedicated Ministry Assistant to provide part-time support to our Ministry with Youth. Under the direction of the Director of Youth Programming, the Ministry Assistant for Youth is responsible for handling the day-to-day administrative functions of the FPC Youth Ministry, working with young adults, youth, parents, staff, and volunteers to further the church’s mission by heralding the gospel of grace to all within its care, discipling students to know and love the Lord and his church, and sending students out with a robust understanding of their call to join God’s mission in the world.
This hourly, part-time role will work up to 25 hours per week on-site during regular Church office hours and will have evening and weekend work (including Sundays) as required on an occasional basis. The compensation range is $20.00 to $24.00 per hour based on experience. Eligible benefits include dental and vision eye ware coverage and a 403(b) retirement plan.

You will
- primarily and joyfully engage roles that administratively support the ministry.
- ensure all youth ministry event and programming logistics are outlined, delegated, supported, and executed.
- handle the administrative needs of the youth ministry in a professional and timely manner (photography, attendance tracking, event registration setup, volunteer appreciation, etc.).
- maintain accurate data on youth, volunteers and parents in the church management system.
- facilitate all aspects of youth ministry electronic communications, including the youth ministry web pages, social media, email communication (e.g. weekly email updates to youth and their families, etc.).
- spearhead youth ministry volunteer recruitment, training, and logistics, ensuring all active volunteers in the ministry have a current background check, have completed an orientation, and understand their role.
- works cross-departmentally to ensure all youth ministry events are properly documented, approved, and publicized to the congregation, ensuring all proper boxes are checked in promoting events.
- facilitate hospitality efforts to welcome newcomers, care needs, and celebrate major milestones in the lives of students and volunteers in our community.
- considers innovative ways to administratively support the youth ministry and its staff.
- perform upkeep of Ministry Platform (MP) and eSPACE (church software systems) for the Youth Ministry by creating and updating attendance, events, groups, and systems.
- manages up to ensure all important information, scheduling, and planning reaches the Director of Youth Programming in a way that enables thoughtful and proactive decision making for the ministry.
- oversees the Youth Ministry volunteer team in a way that clearly communicates the expectations, goals, and necessary training needed to execute their roles and joyfully help disciple our students.
- perform other administrative duties, as assigned.
