Position Title: Financial Administrator

Purpose of the Position: This position will be responsible for all financial aspects of First Presbyterian Church (FPC), including but not limited to receiving/depositing tithes/offerings, paying church bills, maintaining all church financial records, processing payroll on the 15th and last day of the month and providing financial records for individuals, committee chairs and Session upon request. This position will also be responsible for keeping church financial records in pristine order and providing them to the church accountant for audit upon request and the Admin/Finance chair for monthly meetings.

Designation of Exempt or Non-exempt: Non-exempt.

Anticipated Days and Hours Worked: Part-time (20 hours/week).

Supervisor’s Title: The Financial Administrator reports directly to the Director of Operations (DO). This individual will also work closely with the Admin/Finance committee chair.

Rate of Pay: Hourly, $20-$23/hour.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and job skills:

· A committed believer in Jesus Christ, dedicated to the mission, vision and values of FPC.

· An associates or undergraduate degree in Finance (or equivalent) preferred.

· Attention to detail and organization demonstrated through previous job experience.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· A committed team player who sees their job as a ministry and support function to co-workers, FPC committee chairs and Session.

· Demonstrated knowledge in financial administration, focused on budget planning and bookkeeping.

· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office with a willingness to learn REALM.

· A dedicated willingness to maintain strict confidentiality of church financial and giving records both with co-workers and church covenant partners.

· Ability to receive instructions from the DO and execute the plan in an efficient, timely and complete manner.

· Ability to work independently and without close supervision.

· Possess a track record of timely dependability in previous jobs.

· Ability to interact in a considerate and professional manner with FPC Staff, Committee Chairs and Covenant Partners.

Job Duties: Following are the areas of responsibility for the Financial Administrator:

Manage church operating funds:

· Assist the Admin/Finance Committee in preparing the annual church budget, including accumulating committee requests and preparing working documents.

· Collect weekly cash/check contributions to the church and electronically deposit all checks and manually deposit any cash offerings. Collect the monthly special offering for global/local missions on the last Sunday of each month.

· Record all contributions from covenant partners in REALM.

· Facilitate the procurement/dissemination of giving envelopes at the end of the calendar year for the upcoming year.

Perform other financial duties:

· Process check request forms and prepare checks for authorized check signers. Once checks have been signed, mail checks to appropriate destination or disseminate for internal payment. Record all transactions in a timely and accurate manner in REALM.

· Review church financial spreadsheets in REALM monthly, looking for any entry that appears to have been input incorrectly and insuring accuracy for all entries.

· Process payroll bi-monthly, along with all accompanying reports and tax/benefit payments.

· Prepare monthly church financial reports and disseminate to appropriate staff and committee chairs of the church.

· Process all year-end financial reports/obligations and set up the annual audit of church records.

· Facilitate the procurement/dissemination of covenant partner giving envelopes in the fourth quarter of the current year for the upcoming calendar year.

· Input changes/additions relative to employee benefits/health coverage with Guidestone, our insurance/benefit provider.

· Attend all monthly and specially called Admin/Finance Committee meetings.

· Assist the Church Treasurer in preparing financial reports for the annual business meeting or as other needs arise.

· Manage and pay all expenses incurred on the church credit card, including Amazon purchases.

· Assist the DO with any other financial matter that arises concerning staff or covenant partners of FPC.

Behavioral Expectations: All paid staff of FPC are expected to always conduct themselves in a Christ-centered manner. In addition, all staff are expected to perform their work for the Glory of God as directed in Colossians 3:23:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”

The Financial Administrator will routinely work 20 hours/week, Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm. Occasionally, the Financial Administrator position will require some additional hours when preparing statements for the annual audit, or, when getting financial statements ready for the annual business meeting or for Admin/Finance committee meetings. During these times, it may be necessary to adjust hours throughout the week or work additional hours as approved by the DO.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
