We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance team members in our Lock Haven, PA tissue manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for leading the maintenance processes in a manner that will have direct impact on profitability, efficiency, cost management, quality, safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, and innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and develops safe work culture through adhering to and maintaining all company safety rules, policies and standards. Exhibit strong core leadership skills – accountability, credibility, trust. Demonstrate the leadership behaviors that lead to business results. Be a role model demonstrating the FQT “Rules of Engagement”. Ensure coaching, discipline, recognition, and handling of situations is consistent with HR policy. Grow hourly & salaried reports into their next role. Appraise and evaluate all exempt and non-exempt employees as required. Manage the Converting Maintenance team to be a world-class maintenance organization. Utilize and promote the usage of the CMMS system to provide direction and assistance to maintenance personnel within the Converting Maintenance team. Promote growth of the maintenance team by providing leadership in the development and implementation of:
  • Root Cause Analysis – documenting failures, analyzing repetitive failures, analyzing major failures, training maintenance and production personnel, develop/manage corrective action database, recommend and implement fixes for root causes.
  • Precision maintenance techniques – developing and implementing standards based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing vendor standards.
  • Preventive maintenance programs – Develop tools and techniques to analyze and develop cost effective preventive maintenance procedures.
  • New equipment installations – providing assistance in developing standards based installation procedures for new equipment using best available practices.
  • Reliability improvements – identify, plan and implement projects to improve the inherent reliability of plant equipment.
  • Analyze operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics including: unplanned downtime, PM compliance, schedule compliance, Mean-Time-Between Failures, and maintenance related costs.
  • Effective predictive maintenance program – developing and implementing a standardized monitoring program including vibration analysis, infrared inspections, non- destructive testing, and other Pdm techniques where applicable.
  • Effective maintenance planning and scheduling – participating in daily meetings and weekly planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Effective repair techniques – developing and implementing standards based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing and implementing vendor standards.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive maintenance and reliability tactical training to maintenance resources.
  • Equipment Modifications – identify and implement modifications that reduce the time required to repair/replace equipment.
  • Procedure Modifications – identify and modify procedures that reduce the time required to repair/replace equipment.

Champion vendor services to maximize quality, performance and reliability of equipment repairs. Utilize vendors and OEM’s for improving the skills of maintenance personnel and for improving inspection routines. Manage Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in an effort to improve equipment availability. Support all Converting reliability efforts. Utilize and mentor others on the Capital Project process. Develop and create a vision for the maintenance team and implement it. Interface with Production, Engineering, Human Resources, Purchasing, Stores, and Utilities departments. Develop and maintain staffing plans to meet business requirements. Develop and deliver maintenance budgets. First Quality team members must follow all First Quality environmental, health and safety requirements as well as applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
Experience/Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in team leadership towards the implementation of maintenance goals and objectives.
  • 10 years’ experience in the maintenance field Three to five years’ experience in a Maintenance Supervisory position preferred.
  • Have an understanding of the planning and scheduling of maintenance work functions as they apply to predictive, preventive, precision, proactive, and planned maintenance.
  • Standard knowledge of O.S.H.A laws and regulations within the manufacturing field. Fundamental knowledge of Worker’s compensation rules, regulations and an understanding of employee relations preferred.
  • Strong human relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced comprehension of the Converting equipment mechanical/electrical functions.
  • Strong problem solving skills in aiding the reliability of the operation. Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products
