What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Receiving Associate position at First Source Worldwide, LLC?
First Source Worldwide (FSW) manufactures and distributes tailor-made chemicals and colorants. We focus on sourcing quality chemical and dye products for use across multiple industries and applications including leather, textile, paper, coatings, carpet, wood, HI&I, and more.
FSW is looking for a shipping & receiving associate to join our team. The work schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to grow with the company.
Duties and Responsibilities: includes but is not limited to the following
- Prepares orders for shipment including ensuring items are properly labeled, packaged, and repacks shipments if not adhering to FSW standards.
- Works with customer service and freight carriers to insure timeliness and accuracy, quality and adherence of all shipments.
- Inspects orders/inbound materials for accuracy, quality and adherence to requirements and FSW policy.
- Operates forklifts, delivery trucks, and other equipment required to package and ship the materials.
- Contacts freight carriers for deliveries/pick-ups.
- Ensures all paperwork is in order and adheres to FSW policy and any legal requirements including appropriate labeling for EHS requirements.
- Photographs and samples incoming and some outgoing materials as a part of quality control; rejecting, documenting, and reporting any material not compliant to order specifications.
- Documents order status including units handled and moved in the Information System.
- Labels and moves freight, stock and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles and containers, by hand or using trucks, forklifts and other equipment.
- Loads and unloads cargo and sorts to inventory or outbounds according to the specifications before/after shipment.
- Packs containers and repacks damaged containers and packaging.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace, ensures cleanliness of loading docks both inside and outside.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as directed and needed
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Highschool Diploma / GED required
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in shipping & receiving
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Able to drive a fork lift and a plus if can use a pole lift
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization skills, including project management experience
- Time management skills
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels of the organization & be a team player
- Knowledge and understanding of freight regulations and requirements of the Department of Transportation
