What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at First Step Child Care?
We are looking for warm, creative, and attentive teachers for two classrooms in our center, working with two-year-olds and with preschool children.
Applicants MUST have graduated with an Associates or Higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience with young children and a good understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for children. Great organization and time management skills are a must. We're looking for teachers who are willing to guide the classroom teams, create weekly lesson plans, complete observations, and ensure a learning environment through a mixture of individual, small group, and large group activities.
Additional Considerations:
- Must value teamwork and collaboration
- Must be physically able to sit on the floor, get up and down quickly, stand for long periods of time, and lift children. We expect our teachers to be constantly moving, checking on children, playing with them, and paying attention to what's going on around you all the time.
- Must have patience! We never use physical punishment or verbal reprimands with our children, so we require people who can use our positive guidance methods to manage children's behaviors without getting frustrated.
- Must be reliable. The children need us every day!
Additional Requirements:
- Teachers must have an Associate Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education/ Child Development .
- Alternative Associate degree in any subject with at least 15 semester hours in Early Childhood Education may be accepted. Transcripts will need to be reviewed prior to interview.
- Two or more years teaching experience in a licensed child care center with young children are required.
- Experience with Teaching Strategies and Creative Curriculum is a bonus!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
