First Student is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator I to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing, with key responsibilities including :
Managing union dues
Processing garnishments
Ensuring payroll accuracy

Major responsibilities include :
Entry and review of payroll data, employee maintenance, and tax information.
Coordinating with HR and unions for accurate employee updates.
Supporting Payroll Specialists in processing payrolls and reconciling data.
Auditing payroll data and ensuring accuracy before payroll execution.
Handling manual checks, banking submissions, and special reports.
Running payroll reports, assisting with W-2 reconciliation, and addressing payroll inquiries via customer service.
Minimum Education or Certifications Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) preferred
Minimum Experience or Skills Required
1 year experience in Payroll with Customer Service or H.R. background
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge of computerized time & attendance and payroll processing systems. Workday experience a plus, but not required.
Good oral and written communication skills required
Good customer service skills
Strong ability to follow instructions
Well organized, solid work ethic
