What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Pilot Plant Technician position at First Tek, Inc.?
RESPONSIBILITIES : Working in a team environment under minimal daily direct supervision, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following; " Prepare experimental refining catalysts on a 5 to 20 Kg scale using established procedures including crystallization, ion exchange, calcination in the Pilot Plant " Conduct experiments, generate reliable data, and interpret results for FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) catalyst research projects " Coordinate and work effectively with support / service groups to deliver results in a timely manner " Organize and store data in electronic databases " Work closely with supervisor, providing frequent updates and planning next set of experiments " Process data in the form of tables, graphs, PowerPoint presentations and share with the supervisor and the team, as needed " Responsible for performing the entire range of refining catalyst preparation and evaluation methods " Ability to work effectively in a larger than lab scale environment potentially generating 5-120 Kg samples " Identify hazards and work safely following EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) guidelines REQUIREMENTS " A minimum of an Associate's degree in Chemistry. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry / Material Science / Chemical Engineering or related discipline is a plus " Knowledge of and focus on EH&S protocols and cleanliness in the laboratory is desired " Must have excellent laboratory or pilot plant scale skills, including detailed record keeping and knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and equipment " Must be able to lift and handle up to 40 lbs. " Excellent verbal and written communication skills " Proficiency in MS Office software and Lotus Notes required " Demonstrated history of improvements made in laboratory work processes a plus " Experience in zeolite catalysis is a plus
