Position Purpose:
Provide support to the Mortgage Lending Department in the areas of origination, preparation, processing and verification of documentation for mortgage underwriting submissions and closings, as well as timely and accurate delivery of closed files for shipping.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Mortgage Lender with the following duties including but not limited to: originate loan applications, run credit, initiate initial application disclosures, lock borrower’s note rate, gather income, credit and asset documentation, and order appraisals and verifications.
- Assist in processing loan files in preparation for underwriter’s review in accordance with written loan approval, investor and/or government agency guidelines and including Closing Disclosure review and approval.
- Create and maintain accurate loan files before and after closing while ensuring compliance with bank procedures.
- Assist in performing pre-underwriting review of files submitted to underwriting for technical documentation deficiencies.
- Build relationships with loan officers by monitoring deadlines and maintaining communication and being responsive to requests for information.
- Manage monthly closings on assigned loans in a consistent and timely manner.
- Assist in submitting closed file documentation to Loan Ops for booking on bank system.
- Assist in post-closing shipping of files for insurance.
- Assist in tracking and clearing all purchase pends issued by investor.
- Assist in Organizing, tracking and delivering final trailing documents to investor.
- Complete pre-funding audit tasks on all files.
- Handle closing and shipping tasks on an as needed basis.
- Assist mortgage lender in all assigned duties including but not limited to CIP, HUD Audits and research of files.
- Build relationships with internal and external customers.
- Remain aware and knowledgeable of industry changes to products and guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Complete annual training as required.
- Participate in bank/community activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required, experience with Encompass Loan Software preferred.
- Responsiveness in a fast paced, fluid environment and be held to minimum production standards while maintaining excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to build relationships in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read and understand basic policies and procedures.
- Proactive; desire to identify opportunities rather than react to problems.
- Strong attention to detail; accuracy with numbers, consistency and completeness are critical.
- High integrity and outstanding work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality is a requirement.
- Strong sense of initiative; self-motivated; work well without close supervision.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in mortgage lending.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent; some college preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Typically requires sitting for long periods of time with frequent keyboard/mouse usage and intermittent stooping, bending and walking.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds which may include the need for independent mobility: bend, reach, or kneel.
- Visual and auditory skills are required.
