About Us:

 FirstFruits Farms, Washington’s largest Opal apple grower, is ready to add a high caliber and hardworking Payroll Manager to our team.  The Payroll Manager will oversee the major functions of the company’s payroll needs.  This position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of payroll as well as the strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Formal education, certificates, and/or relevant experience is required.  The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team and a strong understanding of payroll regulations.

Due to the rapid growth in our operations, we currently have an opening for a full time Payroll Manager overseeing our orchard, packing house, and affiliated company payroll functions near the Tri Cities in Southeast Washington.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Primary responsibilities will focus on managing the day-to-day operations of our payroll functions, including:

  • Lead and assist the payroll team with the day-to-day operations and with timecard and payroll auditing to ensure accurate records
  • Payroll services – ensure successful and accurate processing of all payrolls for FirstFruits Farms and our affiliated entities
  • Oversee payroll system updates, including changes to earnings, deductions, tax rates, pay rates, etc.
  • Assist front office, hiring managers, and payroll team with various system integrations for seamless and accurate data transfers
  • Assist employees with questions related to their payroll
  • Work with 3rd party unemployment claims administrator for timely and accurate responses to unemployment claims
  • Work with 3rd party and internal contacts for annual ACA reporting and W2 processing
  • Assist accounting and managers with labor reporting and various daily/weekly payroll reports
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the payroll staff and ensure they are successful and maintaining the company’s values and providing proper and professional customer service to all employees

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with 3-5 years of relevant experience – OR – any combination of relevant education and experience; Prior experience with agricultural payroll is preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, is helpful, but not required
  • Prior supervisory experience, including leading, coaching, and training a team to achieve a common plan
  • Excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Excel
  • Experience with accurately tracking and paying workers in a piece rate system is highly preferred
  • Ability to set goals & priorities to manage multiple projects effectively and successfully from concept to completion
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data with little to no assistance
  • Must have a great personality and attitude and be willing to step outside of your job title
  • Must have the ability to adapt.  Payroll law is complex and constantly changing.  In addition, FirstFruits is rapidly growing and expanding, and we need people who have the desire and the capability to grow with us

 Benefits:

  • Competitive wages starting at $75,000 - $85,000 (based on experience)
