Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our Care Team in Honolulu. As a Personal Care Aide, you will provide high-quality, non-medical support to clients, assisting with daily living activities and enhancing their quality of life. At FirstLight, we take care of our Care Team so they can focus on delivering exceptional care. This role offers comprehensive training, ongoing support, and a caregivers-first environment where your hard work is valued and appreciated.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene, following an established Care Plan.
• Support clients with mobility, such as helping them in and out of bed or around the home.
• Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in conversation and activities to promote their well-being.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying up, laundry, and organizing, to maintain a comfortable living environment.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients’ nutritional needs are met according to their preferences and dietary requirements.
• Offer medication reminders to help clients stay on track with their prescriptions.
• Accompany clients to appointments or errands as needed, providing transportation assistance when applicable.
• Observe and report changes in clients’ condition or needs to supervisors to ensure timely and appropriate care adjustments.
• Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients, embodying the spirit of mālama.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
• Must have obtained Nurse Aide Training or equivalent Personal Care Aide Training certificate.
• Minimum of 3 months of hands-on caregiving experience or completion of a Nurse Aide training program (preferred).
• Compassionate, reliable, and empathetic with a genuine desire to improve clients’ lives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with clients, families, and the Care Team.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to personalized Care Plans.
• Physical ability to assist with mobility and personal care tasks (must be able to lift up to 25 lbs).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred for transportation assistance).
• Must pass a background check and meet Hawaii state requirements for home care aides.

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
