firstPRO is seeking a Lab Support Specialist who will be responsible for providing technical support for laboratory devices, software, and instruments in scientific and research environments. This role combines IT expertise with specialized knowledge of lab equipment to ensure seamless operations, compliance, and collaboration within laboratory settings. This is a 12 month contracting opportunity that requires 3 days per week onsite in Trenton, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for laboratory devices, including desktops, tablets, HPLCs, GC systems, spectrophotometers, and balances.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues between instruments and software systems such as LIMS, ELN, and data acquisition platforms.
- Collaborate with instrument vendors and service providers to resolve advanced technical issues and manage device maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including GxP, GLP, and ISO requirements, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Support system validation and qualification for laboratory instruments and IT systems.
- Train and assist laboratory staff on desktop systems and instrument software and create user guides and SOPs.
- Monitor the performance of laboratory devices and desktop systems, identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Manage inventory and coordinate the procurement of laboratory-related hardware and software.
- Work closely with scientists, laboratory managers, and IT teams to address unique lab requirements and support IT infrastructure projects.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and Office 365.
- Familiarity with laboratory devices such as chromatography systems, spectrometers, and balances.
- Experience with laboratory software, including LIMS, ELN, Chromeleon, or Empower.
- Understanding of network configurations and troubleshooting, including TCP/IP and device connectivity.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (GxP, GLP, and ISO).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
