The Opportunity :
As a Lead Data Engineer, you will act as the go-to expert in designing, refining, and enhancing data processing systems and pipelines used for populating various data repositories, such as transactional databases and data warehouses. You will develop robust systems to optimize data for operational use, analysis, and troubleshooting. You'll also play a key role in operational support and incident management, which will include everything from logging instrumentation to process improvements. Collaborating with other IT teams to strengthen security, monitoring, and tooling is also part of your responsibilities. You will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Corporate Services Technology.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities :
- Utilize Agile methodologies to gather and clarify requirements, facilitating an iterative cycle of planning, defining acceptance criteria, and delivering enterprise data solutions alongside Business Intelligence teams and users.
- Develop and manage integration tools as well as databases and analytical systems leveraging data software.
- Design, create, and implement effective data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from diverse sources.
- Build and develop data storage models such as data vaults or dimensional modeling on various platforms.
- Coordinate with necessary teams on application security, monitoring, and development tooling.
- Provide ongoing operational support and incident management for data pipelines, ensuring timely updates to internal clients on any changes or issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, procedures, and technical designs.
- Mentor and train junior data and Business Intelligence personnel, preparing materials and guiding their technical growth.
