What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 SUMMER Upward Bound Academy Instructor position at Fitchburg State University?
Fitchburg State University Upward Bound, a federally funded college access program for low-income/potentially first generation high school students, is seeking Instructors for our Summer Academy program. The Summer Academy Instructor will conduct classes in the specific content area of hire (English, Math, or Science). The Instructor will report to the Education Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Education Coordinator to plan, develop, and deliver engaging, topic-based curriculum in the academic areas of hire.
- Attend all faculty meetings (weekly) and maintain records in accordance with grant requirements.
- Collaborate with the Education Coordinator to monitor student performance and provide additional support when needed.
- Refer students in need of academic intervention directly to the Education Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in education, or related field in the content area required
- Master's degree preferred
- Teacher certification required
- Previous experience with disadvantaged populations, education opportunity programs, and bilingual ability helpful
