We are fitnesssuperstore.com located in Benicia california. We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Specialist to join our fitness equipment warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing quality control processes, ensuring that all fitness machines and equipment meet our high standards before being shipped. This role requires a hands-on leader who can develop and refine processes, maintain ISO 9001 standards, and ensure every machine is inspected thoroughly.
The Quality Control Specialist will play a key role in maintaining our product quality, ensuring that all fitness equipment functions as intended, and addressing any discrepancies with parts or assembly. This is an in-person position requiring close collaboration with warehouse staff, suppliers, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control Tasks:
- In-Person QC Checks: Oversee and conduct in-person quality checks during the palletizing process to ensure machines are packaged and ready for shipping with zero defects.
- Part Ordering for Machines: Order replacement parts for machines that are incomplete or defective, ensuring swift and efficient repairs.
- ISO 9001 Compliance: Ensure all QC processes meet ISO 9001 standards for quality management.
- Six Sigma certification is preferred but not required
Process Development:
- Machine-Specific Process Development:
- Identify common parts that are often missing from suppliers and develop a checklist for consistent quality checks.
- Discontinue full machine checks if a supplier consistently delivers complete and accurate parts, streamlining the QC process.
- Log corrections made by workers for each machine, tracking trends and making improvements to prevent recurring issues.
Noise and Functionality Testing:
- Decibel Noise Testing: Measure the noise levels of machines to ensure they operate like new and meet our standards for sound and functionality.
Packaging Quality Control:
- Parts Packaging Inspections: Inspect how parts are packaged to avoid damage during shipping. Collaborate with team members like Josue to ensure packaging materials and methods provide adequate protection.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in quality control, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and ensure product quality.
- Experience in developing and improving quality processes, especially in relation to fitness equipment or mechanical products.
- Strong organizational skills for tracking and logging issues and improvements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with workers and suppliers to resolve part or machine-related issues.
- Basic knowledge of decibel noise testing and machine functionality testing.
- Some Spanish speaking skills are needed. You will be providing directions to warehouse workers that do not speak any English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a fitness equipment warehouse or similar industry.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fitness machines or similar equipment.
- Proficiency in data logging and report generation.
