Looking for a motivated Assistant Designer to join our team! We are seeking an enthusiastic individual open to learning all areas of the design process. Candidate must have a strong interest in women’s apparel. The Assistant Designer supports the design team with the execution of seasonal collections. Assists in the concept, design and development of the product lines reporting to the Designer.
Key Responsibilities
-Contributes trend research for style, fabric/trim, and color/print development.
-Assists in sketching and designing the line under the direction of the Creative Director
-Adheres to design calendar and attends meetings as required
-Helps prepare presentation boards and design decks highlighting print, fabric, and sketches
-Prepares design development packages for overseas
-Creates pitch sheets for prints and helps create artwork packages for strike-off requests
-Requests lab dips and sample yardage for raw material/trim development as needed
-Assists in preparing tech packs for development and production
-Maintains tech packs keeping them current throughout the product life cycle
-Attends development & production fittings; keeping detailed notes
-Communicates daily with our overseas offices from development through production
-Assists the designers in staying current on approvals of all color/print, trim/fabric, and style development
-Communicates cross functionally with Product Development, Technical Design and Production teams as needed
-Helps maintain fabric and trim library for new development
-Organizes development and bulk submits, samples, and design related materials and helps keeps design area tidy
-Handles other responsibilities or projects as needed under the direction of the Designer & Creative Director
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in design
-Creativity and enthusiasm for women’s apparel
-Ability to identify color and fashion trends
-Basic knowledge of design specifications, i.e. draping, pattern making, sewing
-Strong organizational skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
-Strong teamwork skills
-Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop is essential
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Google Drive
