Summary Of Function
Under the direction of the Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Support, paraprofessional will travel to various school sites to provide support with behavior intervention and academic skills for students.

Typical Tasks
- Support students in the general education or specialized program setting.
- Assist in the implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for the student(s).
- May assist with activities of daily living, including eating/feeding, grooming, dressing, use of assistive technology/devices, mobility, toileting, transfers, and positioning.
- May assist students who have behavioral challenges.
- Ensure the safety of student(s).
- Monitor student(s) on field trips in the community.
- Assist teacher with the preparation of teaching materials.
- Participate in new training/learning as required with each new situation/assignment.
- Able to follow a plan with specific interventions and model for other staff members.
- Mandatory specialized training, including Crisis Prevention Intervention, use of assistive technology/devices, etc., will be provided after hire. Employee is required to perform the physical demands associated with for Crisis Prevention Intervention. Employee is responsible for keeping mandatory training(s)/certification(s) current.
- Candidate must meet NCLB qualifications of 60 post-secondary hours of college coursework, or a minimum of an AA Degree (or higher), or meet the minimum score required on an Arizona Department of Education approved test. (The FUSD Family Resource Center administers the parapro test. Please call 928.774.1103 for more information and to schedule a testing time.) In addition, please attach documentation to your application (transcripts, copy of degree, or copy of parapro assessment score) verifying that you meet the NCLB requirement listed above.
- IMPORTANT: FUSD may consider and hire candidates who do not yet meet the NCLB requirement. You will be hired as a substitute parapro in a temporary/non-benefit status, paid at $17.40/hour, until you complete and show proof of meeting the NCLB requirement. (The NCLB requirement is completion of 60 post-secondary hours of college coursework or an AA Degree, or passing the AZ Department of Education Paraprofessional Test.) You have a maximum of 60 calendar days to meet the NCLB requirement. Once the requirement is met, you will become eligible for benefits (if working 30 hours/week or more), and your pay will be revised to reflect the hourly rate for the position in which you've been hired. If the requirement is not met within 60 calendar days, your substitute assignment will end, and the position will be reopened to other applicants.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
- Must provide own transportation between school sites.
