We are a small scale, intensive market garden operating on approximately 3 acres in Vancouver, WA. We specialize in growing a wide variety of produce, all without the use of harmful chemicals while focusing on improving the land to a healthier state using organic, holistic, natural practices.
We operate a CSA that serves around 50 people, host a booth at the Downtown Vancouver Farmers Market on the weekends, grow for the local food bank and sell to local schools / restaurants / grocers. We also collaborate with other local farms in our area.
We are looking for 1 very reliable, friendly and enthusiastic *Superstar* to join our team! They would be working every weekend staffing our Farmers Market Booth in Downtown Vancouver, WA from May through October.
Position Summary:
The Farmers Market Lead will run our booth at the Vancouver Farmers Market in downtown Vancouver, WA every weekend. They must have experience in retail sales or customer service, be able to assist customers with their purchases, have detailed knowledge about different fruits and vegetables, and be able to accurately and quickly calculate and check out customers, maintain a beautiful and stocked display, and take inventory.
They must have a clean driving record and will load up veggies at the farm, drive them to the market, set them up and then help to take down and pack up after the market, return to the farm and unload into the cooler.

Note: We are working on developing a collaborative Farmers Market Booth with 3-4 other local Clark County farms. If this does in fact succeed, you’ll be working with 1-2 partner farmers for the season and helping with all aspects of the market day at our larger combined booth.
Dates and Time Commitment:
- Seasonal Position starts in May and goes through until the end of October (26 weekends)
*MUST commit to one full season with opportunity to extend into the following year.
- Part Time: 2 days a week (Saturday and Sunday), 1 position available
- Schedule: ~20 Hours/week:
Saturday from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm
Sunday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
*Hours may vary depending on how busy market will be
- Train with your farmers for 2 weeks and then you’ll be on your own for the remainder of the season (if we are able to get the collaboration going, you’ll work with 2 other farmers).
Responsibilities:
1.) Market Set Up and Take Down:
Start the morning at our farm. On Saturday this will be at 6:30 am and on Sunday at 7:30 am.
Load all of the produce totes/crates, tables, baskets, and tent into the farm van. Drive to the market and set up at our assigned space.
- You must have a spectacular attendance record and always be on time
- A keen eye and skill for “Tetris” packing the van and fitting in all of the necessary items.
- Care and foresight must be taken to ensure produce arrives safely at the market and baskets and other items are not broken
Once arriving at the market, you will set up the tent, tables, table cloths and baskets. Then fill them with the bounty of beautiful produce.
- Ability to follow and re-produce the same market set up as trained.
- Keen eye and attentiveness for making sure produce is always stocked and looking great.
- Learning sales strategies to place popular items and top selling products to draw customers in.
- Take accurate inventory of all items sold at end of day and maintain records.
2.) Sales and Customer Interactions
- Ability to create a friendly and welcoming environment to make the customer feel fabulous!
- Ability to multi-task and be attentive to new customers entering booth while helping others.
- Good stress management and ability to keep lines moving, accurately & quickly check out and help customers while also keeping produce stocked.
- Use Square check out and be able to process card, cash, SNAP and other transactions.
- Welcome CSA customers picking up at the market, help them find their boxes and swap out items if needed.
- Knowledge of all produce we sell so you can hype and inform customers of each item. We will help you learn about all of the items we offer.
Position Requirements
o At least 2 years of customer service and sales experience – Farmers Market Experience is a Plus!
o Because of the remote nature of our farm and the lack of public transportation, a reliable method of transportation is required.
o Drivers License and clean driving record required.
o Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds, loading and unloading crates, etc.
o Ability to stand for long periods.
o Ability to work for 5-6 hours on your feet with bathroom breaks and snacks/lunch eaten on the job.
o Friendly, outgoing and welcoming attitude.
o Good math skills and record keeping skills. You must accurately track and record sales as well as manage till and give correct change.
o Ability to multi-task and be able to help multiple customers as well as keep produce stocked.
o Work in all weather conditions (cold, wet, wind, heat).

- Pay $17/ hour, plus tips (Paid out on a bi-weekly basis, typically ranging from $10-50/day on average).
