The Information Security Specialist II will support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) in developing policy, governance, processes, and oversight of cybersecurity requirements and responsibilities. This role involves providing comprehensive cybersecurity support, developing future security requirements, and ensuring compliance with federal laws, OMB, and DoD directives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Policy and Governance Support :
- Provide information access services to support the development of policy, governance, processes, and oversight of cybersecurity requirements and responsibilities.
- Ensure the DAF is compliant with federal laws, OMB, and DoD directives.
- Cybersecurity Support :
- Provide support on all aspects of cybersecurity to the DAF Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and other personnel within and outside the Cybersecurity Division.
- Support the development and implementation of security architectures to meet new and evolving security requirements.
- Future Security Requirements :
- Develop future security requirements for DAF networks and systems, as well as MAJCOM / FLDCOM and theater-unique requirements.
- Review and Evaluation :
- Review new methods, procedures, techniques, and approaches to ensure proper security criteria, guidance, and methodology are applied to information systems and security devices being developed and acquired by the DoD and Defense Agencies.
- Facilitation and Summarization :
- Set up, prepare, facilitate, and provide summaries for action officer, executive, and Congressional level hearings, boards, and related activities.
- Section 508 Program Support :
- Support the Section 508 program office through various actions, including writing and publishing policy and procedures, compliance oversight, testing and validation, managing the complaints process, training and education, procurement, policy exceptions, remediation, and required reporting.
- Proficiency in Electronic Content Testing :
- Manage and train on electronic content testing (documents, web content, online training, etc.).
- Web Accessibility and Trusted Tester Training :
- Be proficient in web accessibility and trusted tester training and certification.
Security clearance : Secret or higher is preferred; if not cleared must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust suitability.
Work Location : Hybrid : On-site (Pentagon; Washington, DC)
Workdays : Monday – Friday
Work hours : Core hours : 8 : 00 am – 4 : 00 pm
Travel : As needed to support the mission.
