What will the Parts counter Sales Representative do?

Fleet Direct is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Parts Counter Sales Representative. This person is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by assisting customers in identifying and purchasing the correct parts for their medium and heavy-duty truck and trailer needs. This involves utilizing product knowledge, navigating inventory systems, processing orders, and building strong customer relationships.

What is the Parts Counter Sales Representative responsible for?

  • Greet and assist customers in person and over the phone, providing prompt and courteous service.
  • Accurately identify and locate parts using catalogs, computer systems, and other resources.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations to customers regarding parts selection and application.
  • Process sales orders, including pricing, invoicing, and payment collection.
  • Manage inventory, including receiving, stocking, and organizing parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, fostering repeat business.
  • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, industry trends, and company promotions.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.


What knowledge, skills and abilities required for the Parts Counter Sales Re presentative role?

Must possess mechanical aptitude.

  • Computer proficient.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with peers, staff and external service locations.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving.
  • Basic knowledge of how to obtain parts to support repair facilities if needed.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed dispatchers and drivers.

Work may require more than 40 hours per week.

What are the physical demands of the Parts Counter Sales Representative role?

Travel will be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting and reaching for some of his/her job duties. Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console. Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person. There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 25 lbs.
