Join Fleet Direct Truck and Trailer Sales and drive your ambitions into a future full of opportunities.BENEFITS : Excellent Insurance Coverage : Health, dental and vision plans availableDisability Insurance : Company-paid short-term disability, voluntary long-term disabilityPaid Time Off : Sick, personal, vacation and holidays401k : Retirement savings with company matchLife Insurance : $150,00.00 company-paid life insuranceEmployee Discounts : Receive discounts on goods and services from our partnersAnd More : Voluntary benefits including accident, hospital indemnity, & critical illness.MORE ABOUT THE SHOP FOREMAN ROLE : What will the Shop Foreman do?The Shop Foreman will manage shop and parts staff as well as related shop operations.What is the Shop Foreman responsible for?Manages the repair and maintenance of company and customer owned equipment to include the organization of yard.Lead employees to meet the department’s expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.Perform maintenance related work as required.Provide effective performance feedback through performance evaluations, recognition, and / or disciplinary action, with the assistance of Director of Maintenance and Human Resources, when necessary.Work with Director and Human Resources to interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.Provide guidance and direction to all staff members assigned to Maintenance of customer owned vehicles and property.Determine schedules and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.Monitor / manage attendance, absenteeism, overtime, and paid time off approvals.Oversight of parts department and all parts activities to maintain adequate supplies & inventory control.Provides training and assistance to staff mechanics.Works with equipment vendors to understand the maintenance requirements and capabilities of all equipment.Inspect the quality of outside / supplier repairs and or rebuilds. Assess structural damage and assign needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s).Evaluates equipment after repairs, maintenance, or safety checks.Handles driver complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.Promote safety awareness.Update, maintain and keep organized equipment service records.Create, update, close and bill work orders.Provide quotes to customers for repairs to obtain approval to complete the work. Update customer throughout repairs and complete final invoice for payment transaction or to go onto account.Work with sales to evaluate vehicle condition at time of trade.Work closely with sales department to ensure vehicles are prepared and ready to go at delivery time when sold.May order parts, return parts, and perform parts inventory.Manage the property and building to perform regular inspections, assist in sourcing of vendors for repairs and or modifications to property.Perform other duties assigned as assigned by the Director and / or Assistant Director of Maintenance.Maintains a clear line of communication to the Director of Maintenance and other staff in the maintenance department.Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.Inspect and monitor work areas to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures, safety rules and OSHA compliance.Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.Occasionally, may perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.What knowledge, skills and abilities required for the Shop Foreman role?Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.Certified welder is preferred but not required.10 years’ experience in class 8 tractor truck maintenance with background of hydraulics.Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of class 8 tractor trailer maintenance.Proficient in electronic diagnostics Cummins and Paccar.Experience with Peterbilt chassis a plus.Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations, and safety is helpful.Knowledge of retail maintenance billing systems.Computer literate. Microsoft, Outlook, and Excel a plus.Attention to detail and possess a high level of accuracy.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with dispatch team and auto haulers.Excellent communication skills both internally and with customers.Work may require more than 40 hours per week.What are the physical demands of the Shop Foreman role?The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
