What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verifier position at Fleming Island Surgery Center?
Insurance Verifier needed for Fleming Island Surgery Center. We are looking for an outgoing, friendly, team player to join our center. Need someone organized, efficient, and ethical. Must have at least three (3) years of insurance verification experience. The insurance verifier will verify insurance coverages, answer phones, speak with medical offices and discuss financial responsibilities with patients. Also needs to know Microsoft applications, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Required Skills:
- Understand medical terminology
- Understanding of Coding – CPT and ICD-10
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Knowledge of contracted/non-contracted insurance plans and procedures
- Excellent communication skills
Duties:
- Verifies all insurances and confirm authorizations and/or referrals.
- Interact with physicians, medical offices, management personnel, and other clinical personnel to ensure cohesive working relationship in providing quality patient care services.
- Counsels patients about facility charges and insurance coverage.
- Review estimated fee schedules, written explanations, available coverage, and payment responsibilities with the patient or family/significant other before surgery.
- Notify patients prior to date of service of financial responsibility.
- Documentation of all verifications and patient contacts.
- Develop and maintain daily collections log for patient payments.
- Verify and update patient demographic information.
- Cross-training for other positions in the Business Office such as registration, AP, insurance follow ups, etc.
