Position Overview / Responsibilities

Identifies and develops new customers, as well as identifies and resolves all customer problems, which includes :

  • Identifies, develops, manages coupling key accounts within US sales territory.
  • Develops couplings installed base at customers.
  • Supports, technically and commercially, customers from quotation phase to installation / testing phase.
  • Budgets, forecasts, presents coupling business targets by coupling products and key accounts.
  • Trains and drives regional sales account managers to successfully support coupling growth.
  • Independently coordinates with Flender global HQ technical solutions of specific coupling projects.
  • Provides pre- and post-sales technical product advice for the development and implementation of new coupling solutions.
  • Represents company as Flender coupling expert at trade shows, customer events, etc.

Acquires general knowledge in operational application engineering and order management to understand the end-to-end process, which includes :

  • Clarifies (technically and commercially), processes and confirms customer requests-for-quotation and purchase orders in Flender's ERP system
  • Initiates and manages material returns
  • Initiates and supervises customer's expedite requests within the Elgin organization and with intracompany suppliers
  • Tracks order status and supports customers with delivery dates, invoices, etc.
  • Required Knowledge / Education / Skills

  • Knowledge of the function and components of couplings
  • including torsionally rigid, torsionally flexible and hydrodynamic couplings)

  • Experience and knowledge of competitor's solutions, benefits and weaknesses
  • Knowledge of fundamental technical principles (standard and metric) that apply to couplings, which includes :
  • Manufacturing tolerances

  • Balancing standards
  • Keyway standards
  • API regulations
  • Min 3 to 5 years of sales / customer service / application engineering experiences (inside or outside sales).
  • BS preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Technical Degree in related field.
  • Sufficient communication skills to be able to lead technical and commercial clarifications with customers.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) including CRM.
  • Capable of reviewing and understanding technical drawings / documents.
  • Necessary analytical and self-management skills to be able to meet customer' expectations.
  • Team player to be able to work with cross-functional sales and order execution teams.
  • Travel and Work Location

  • Approximately 50% travel required.
  • Located in proximity to Flender Corporation (Elgin, IL) for regular coordination and support.
