We re seeking a Database professional for a major financial database. Will function as a key member of the core data group. Candidate must have advanced database skills, knowledge, and proof of mastery of design, control, & operation of complex Snowflake database and application. Environment is a mission-critical financial database with thousands of B2B clients, many of which are Fortune 500.
Database Administrator Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, Manage, and Execute Snowflake Database administration for a large complex data-intensive environment.
- Set and maintain database standards and policies. Assist developers with creating database processes, objects, usage.
- Work with Infosec organization on database security standards and monitoring.
- Develop processes for optimizing database security.
- Manage database roles, privileges, and security.
- Establish database Monitoring processes, usage, costs.
- Plan and predict database usage for each fiscal year.
- Partner with DBAs from other Business units/Functional groups.
- Develop onboarding processes/procedures.
- Performance tuning of database processes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot database processing errors.
- Design and Create automation tools for repeating database tasks.
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Assist with migrations to Snowflake from other database technologies.
Database Administrator Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong command of the Snowflake database and associated tools
- Strong command of SQL Proven ability to tune/design/build intensive big database processes
- Strong command of Python
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
- Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
- Unix shell scripting skills
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science or a related field
- 5 years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field
- Proven experience with big data environments and technologies
- Experience with Linux Server environments
- Extensive experience with several database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL, SparkSQL, Hive, Impala)
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) is a plus
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
