What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at FlexiSpot?
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all domestic procurement operations for U.S.-based suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials and components.
- Develop and manage vendor relationships across the U.S. furniture and component supply chain—wood, metal, plastics, hardware, packaging, etc.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts with vendors; analyze costs and implement cost-reduction strategies.
- Collaborate with product development and operations teams to ensure sourcing aligns with design specs and production needs.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Forecast demand and plan inventory purchases accordingly to meet customer needs while minimizing overstock.
- Implement procurement best practices, systems, and documentation for transparency, auditability, and scalability.
- Stay current with industry trends, U.S. manufacturing capabilities, and market pricing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or APICS/ISM certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience focused on U.S.-based suppliers, preferably in furniture, office products, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Steelcase-style procurement standards or equivalent industry leaders preferred.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
- Understanding of U.S. manufacturing, quality standards, and logistics.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
