The Plant Manager manages a team of supervisors as well as the workers on the inspection line. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant and their employees. Duties include planning production schedules, identifying productivity goals, and monitoring processes to ensure efficiency and compliance in the inspection process.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily plant operations
- Establish an effective working relationship as the plant’ liaison with FlexXray’s USDA site inspector. Communicate, coordinate, and prepare USDA required documents and forms.
- Manage OSHA compliancy at the plant level.
- Establish and implement “Good Warehousing Practices” for the plant.
- Communicates with FlexXray’s customers to submit project bids, coordinate logistics and schedules, discuss quality issues, project management and deadlines, etc.
- Update as needed or delegate to respective employees.
- Ensure plant and warehouse operations documents are compliant with federal, state and city regulatory requirements. Completes and files applicable paperwork.
- Ensures compliance with legal processes and documentation of inbound and outbound goods.
- Safeguards warehouse operations, contents, and customer inventory, by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Maintains receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, enforcing programs, operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Practice proactive project management by reviewing scheduled projects and adjusting staff levels, shift times, or additional crews to accommodate customers’ requirements.
- Monitors plants operational, equipment, and personnel expenses, and makes budgetary recommendations to FlexXray’s Director of Operations.
- Maintain annual equipment reports; Detailing lifecycle, status, operations cost per equipment, and estimated life-end of all inspection equipment, bundlers, forklifts, freezer, etc.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 5-7 years' experience in in food Manufactuing process,
- Strong Knowledge with GMP, HACCP, OSHA standards,
- Management – Management hard skills include business knowledge, budgeting, project management, finance, office management skills, logistics, negotiating, and planning.
- Production-Specific Processes – Continual Improvement Process, Quality Control, Lean Manufacturing, ISO, Six Sigma, Quality Control and Assurance.
- Computer – A plant manager must be adept at MS Office, spreadsheets, email, presentation and slideshows, database management.
- Leadership – Strong leadership qualities that include giving clear direction, thinking proactively, and having a high sense of accountability.
- Adaptability – The ability to be flexible and agile when things change
- Decisiveness – Being able to make tough decisions in assessing situations and arriving at best course of action
- Organization – The ability to stay organized with many plates in the air; organizing thoughts, processes, tasks, workflow, and inventory management are critical
- Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus, but not required.
