Legal Counsel

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join the Flix North America legal team. This generalist role will be responsible for directly managing the legal function related to data privacy, compliance matters associated with Flix’s online sales platform and other technologies, and related transactions, agreements, and policies, while also assisting with other corporate legal matters, including advertising and marketing, corporate governance, litigation and disputes, labor and employment issues, contract drafting and negotiation, and any other areas as determined by Company needs. This position requires close collaboration and partnership with internal stakeholders, the business units, and other legal professionals and attorneys in the Legal department.Your Tasks – Paint the world green Data privacy-related legal issues and reporting responsibilities, including compliance efforts, policy development and revision, training, and advising on process improvements and project implementation.Advise Marketing, Revenue Management, Business Development, and IT teams on complex legal and regulatory matters across North America.Manage response to complaints and concerns raised by customers, counterparties, and other data subjects concerning privacy issues.Assist with complex and routine litigation and disputes.Contract drafting and negotiation with customers and vendors.Communication with regulators, as necessary.Strategically engage with and manage outside counsel as needed.Other legal duties as may be assigned by the General Counsel or requested by internal stakeholders.Advise and assist with labor and employment matters.Your Profile – Ready to hop on board Juris Doctorate from an accredited universityMinimum 5 years’ experience in a law practice, either in-house and / or with a sophisticated law firm.Active license to practice law in at least one state.Experience providing responsive, practical, creative legal advice to businesses.Ability to think strategically and evaluate potential risks to the Company, including economic, legal, and reputational.Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and assume significant responsibility in keeping with the level of experience.Previous experience advising clients on data privacy matters or advising on or managing data privacy compliance efforts, preferably with an in-house legal department, as well as a working familiarity with a wide range of privacy law and regulation. This individual will be required to get up to speed and maintain a sufficient amount of expertise in data privacy law, stay abreast of applicable legal developments.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities while working with various stakeholders.
