Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with various accounting tasks. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with accounting standards and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Office Manager/Accountant by performing the following tasks:
1. Data entry of financial transactions such as general journal entries, cash receipts and cash disbursements.
2. Reviewing new sales invoices by verifying sales tax and totals of the sales invoices.
3. Assist with the processing of daily sales paperwork from the stores and posting cash receipt payments in Sage and recording payments to the sales invoices.
4. Assist with A/R collections and reviewing weekly aged invoice reports.
5. Assist with monthly credit card reconciliations.
6. Assist with maintaining the financial records of multiple companies.
7. Assist with submitting financing for customer purchases of hot tubs, pools and saunas.
8. Serve as a backup for payroll processing and accounts payable and assist with quarterly processing of payroll tax returns.
9. Assist with monthly remittance of sales & use tax.
10. Assist with monthly bank account reconciliations.
11. Maintain company files of financial information and do filing as necessary.
12. Assist with any other accounting related duties as required.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will need to have proficiency using Accounting Software such as Sage, have a strong attention to detail, have a basic understanding of accounting principles, have an understanding of quarterly payroll tax and monthly sales & use tax preparation, excellent data entry skills, strong organizational and filing skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word. The candidate must have at least 2 years of accounting-related work experience and an associate’s degree in accounting is not required but some accounting-related college coursework would be helpful.
