KHGI has an exciting opportunity for you! Our News department has an opening for a Weekend Meteorologist / MMJ position, with plenty of fill-in opportunities in a dynamic part of the country for active weather in all seasons, to help you grow your forecasting skills.

Requirements : KHGI is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist / Multimedia Journalist to present the weather forecast for the weekend news and report 3 days a week. As our Weekend Meteorologist / Reporter you are responsible for the content of the weather cast on-air and on our digital platforms. You will also have plenty of fill-in work during the week and will be working with a seasoned team of meteorologists with decades of experience. The second part of this role is reporting three days a week, where you will be expected to cover environmental and agriculture-related stories.

Main Responsibilities :

• Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers.
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events.
• Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories.
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
• Pitch story ideas, develop contacts, and report 3 days a week.
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations.
