Overview Of Your Daily Tasks
- Gathering and verifying employee time sheets, including overtime, vacation, and sick leave hours.
- Calculating gross pay, deductions (taxes, health insurance, retirement contributions), and net pay based on employee information and pay rates.
- Inputting payroll data into the company"s payroll system, ensuring accurate data entry and updating employee information as needed.
- Generating paychecks or direct deposits for employees according to the calculated payroll amounts.
- Withholding federal and state income taxes, as well as other required deductions, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
- Preparing and submitting payroll reports to management, including summaries of gross pay, deductions, and net pay.
- Answering questions from employees regarding their paystubs, deductions, and payroll related issues.
- Setting up new employees in the payroll system, including tax withholding information and deductions.
- Calculating final paychecks and processing necessary paperwork for terminated employees.
- Regularly reviewing payroll data for accuracy, identifying and correcting errors, and reconciling payroll reports with other financial records.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Interact in a tactful, diplomatic, and professional, manner with employees, clients/vendors, supervisors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and positive experience and quality service.
- Maintain a dependable attendance record and adhere to standards of cleanliness.
- Any additional duties assigned by management.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
- Basic accounting knowledge
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills to interact with employees and other departments
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.
- One year experience in payroll administration.
- Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification credential.
