Job Title: Small Business Lender

Position Summary: Assists with the direction and coordination of small business lending activities concerned with the extension of commercial credit at a profit to small business customers in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Consistently provides superior professional service to internal and external customers.
- Consistently meet expectations of teamwork, punctuality, and regular, reliable attendance.
- Works with the Senior Commercial Lender or Team Leader to develop and maintain an interest rate structure that is competitive and affords the Bank maximum profitability.
- Works with Senior Commercial Lender or Team Leader to develop and manage Small Business Lending Activities. Interviews applicants: collects and analyzes financial and related data to establish creditworthiness; establishes and negotiates, when necessary, credit terms; and continually monitors customers’ creditworthiness and repayment activities.
- Clearly understands the Small Business Administration (SBA) SOP and other credit enhancements for Small Business Lending. Keeps fully abreast of changing government regulations.
- Works on the collection of delinquent Small Business Loans and works with the Senior Commercial Lender and Chief Credit Risk Officer in commercial loan workouts and foreclosures.
- Counsel’s customers, where possible, regarding business management and financial matters.
- Personally, calls on Small Business customers and prospects.
- Keeps abreast of local and national economic, financial, political, and legislative events and climates that could have an impact on commercial lending activities.
- Works with Senior Commercial Lender to provide information that assists in preparing the department budget, including projected loan volume, rate of return and expenditures.
- Maintains professional and community relations to increase the Bank’s visibility and new business opportunities, and to further personal development.
- Refers business to other Bank areas (Commercial lending, cash management, mortgage, consumer, retail, and investment.)
Education, Experience, And Skills Required
The following skills, background, and experience are necessary (with or without accommodation) for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related area.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Small Business Lending or Portfolio Management experience.
- Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills to maximize business contacts and develop a working relationship with potential and current commercial loan customers.
- Strong analytical skills to conduct initial commercial loan analyses and monitor the loan’s progress in consideration of, including, but not limited to, market trends, credit/interest rates, and economic conditions.
- Ability to meet with current and potential customers and attend community and networking events during and outside of traditional business hours.
- Valid driver’s license with sound driving record and personal transportation available.
- General office environment.
