HIRING PAY RATE: $21.63 per hour

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers, as well as overseeing in-kind donations to support the organizations programs. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess agency need for volunteers and volunteer services which includes donations, contributions, individual and group volunteers.
- Develop and implement volunteer programs with an emphasis on donor cultivation and engagement.
- Develop volunteer programs and opportunities to meet assessed needs of the agency.
- Serve as the point of contact for community partnerships related to volunteerism and in-kind giving.
- Request, receive, sort and acknowledge donations made to the agency; maintain efficient organization of all donation rooms.
- Track all in-kind donations in the donor management system and ensure accurate data entry.
- Provide donation receipts to all in-kind donors in a timely manner.
- Streamline the process and response time for engaging with new volunteers, ensuring a smooth and efficient onboarding experience.
- Recruit, screen, interview and place applicants for volunteer work, matching skills, interest and availability with agency needs.
- Design and post monthly activity, program and volunteer calendar and corresponding registration sheets.
- Conduct regular volunteer orientation and develop and provide ongoing volunteer training and support as needed.
- With the support of our donor management system, maintain and manage all human resources functions of the volunteer program including the online volunteer application, volunteer personnel files, performance evaluations, and supervision.
- Develop and maintain updated policies and procedures for the volunteer program; conduct periodic formal and informal assessments of the volunteer program.
- Facilitate tours of the agency for prospective volunteers to enhance engagement and understanding of the organizations impact.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and potential donors, ensuring meaningful engagement with the agency.
- Coordinate the volunteer recognition program.
- Maintain volunteer records in donor management system and create and provide statistical reports of volunteer hours, activities and donations.
- Develop and update written job descriptions for volunteer positions.
- Create a regular communication program with volunteer base including e-newsletter and various forms of social media.
- Capture photos, stories, and key moments from volunteer activities, donation drop-offs, and community engagement efforts for use in social media, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
- Represent the organization at community events, networking meetings, and speaking engagements to increase visibility, as needed.
- Coordinate agencys Annual Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting events.
- Manage holiday events, client gifts, and agency holiday decorating.
- Participate in monthly client council meetings.
- Act as liaison between volunteers and staff.
- Manage Amazon wish list.
- Organize childcare support coordination schedules.
- Attend staff and team meetings.
- Assist with special event coordination.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to respond to resident needs in a timely, consistent, nurturing fashion.
- Excellent technology and computer skills required.
- Strong communication and management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities, build relationships, and manage volunteer programs.
- Knowledge of human behavior issues related to recruitment, motivation and retention of volunteers.
- Knowledge of personnel management as it relates to volunteerism.
- Ability to make requests for financial and in-kind contributions.
- Public speaking.
- Excellent technology and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook and social media).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must pass thorough background screening and have a clean driving record and valid driver license.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, volunteer program management, or event planning in a human services organization.
