Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Recreation Operations. - Boca Raton, FL .
The Assistant Director of Recreation Operations will provide functional leadership for the recreation and Fitness Center and outdoor spaces. The Assistant Director’s responsibilities include risk management, enforcing policies and procedures, and compliance with FAU and applicable national standards and best practices.
Summary of responsibilities:
Recreation Operations:
- Primary responsibilities will include the daily management, scheduling, and maintenance of the following facilities: Boca’s Recreation & Fitness Center, Pool, Track & Field Complex, outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, Henderson Fields, and all other fields associated with Campus Recreation where appropriate.
- Ensure facility rentals are consistent with University and state guidelines. Oversee formal user agreements and facility scheduling by both internal and external groups.
- Ensure all facilities operate within required risk management procedures and oversee the implementation of standardized safety practices.
- Partner with FAU Buildings and Grounds and outside vendors to schedule and oversee ongoing maintenance projects. Coordinate and monitor building remodeling projects.
- Provide support and input with regard to custodial services contracts and develop and maintain schedules for daily/weekly/annual facility cleaning on all campuses.
- Assist with recommendations for partner campus operations and procedures.
- Oversee compliance with FAU and applicable national standards and regulations.
- Coordinate and/or teach American Red Cross CPR/First Aid, and AED certification courses for all departmental staff.
Assessment:
- Assist with the development of the departmental strategic plan and annual assessment materials.
- Make decisions based on alignment with and achievement of the department’s strategic plan and action steps.
- Assist with preparing monthly and annual reports.
Staff Development and Supervision:
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Coordinator of Reservations and Operations.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Facility Maintenance staff.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and schedule student operations.
- Plan and implement staff onboarding, monthly in-service training, staff development, and team initiatives. Maintain documentation of all required certifications and trainings.
- Contribute to the development and submission of operations assessments and evaluations related to student development, including technical skills, student learning outcomes, and leadership.
- Assist with Division student training and development initiatives.
- May assist in the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of partner campus student staff.
- Assist in the preparation of the department’s budget.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
