Fruit and vegetable Inspectors:
Gain on-the-job training to learn about fruit inspection techniques, quality standards, and grading systems. As a fruit and vegetable inspector works in processing plants and packing houses. Ensuring agricultural products meet standards during shipping and at the market. They inspect fresh fruits using visual observations and collect samples for quality testing. They prepare production reports and maintain personal records. Additionally, they perform quality control checks to ensure USDA standards and federal laws are met. They monitor production operations for compliance with specifications and report any defects.
The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is hiring for Tomato and Process Citrus OPS seasonal State Inspectors in the Manatee, Desoto and Hillsborough area. No experience needed. All training will be paid for. Pay starts at $17 an hour.

Hours and Days: Full time and Part time work is available. May work up to 5 or 7 days a week, day or evening hours. For Tomato Inspectors, The packing houses dictate when work is performed. Hours will vary depending on when packing house is running. For Citrus Inspectors, Full time 8 hour shift ( first, second or third shift)
Will provide on the job training.
Physical Requirements:
Stand frequently on a daily basis
Bend and/or Stoop - occasionally
Lift up to 25 or 50 pounds- occasionally
Additional Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
Must speak, read and write English to complete reports and communicate with employer, co-workers and patrons of the employer
